Few years later I got Mini Mill from Harbor Freight - a variation of Sieg X2 mill. These two machines are very good when tuned well. The Sieg X1 mill is one of the smallest and cheapest mills on the market. As such it is somewhat basic but it is capable of good work if you work within the limitations of the machine. It has two annoying features. The first is the absence of any system to provide a positive stop in both directions of the mill table.

In the end, a cheap Chinese benchtop mill was my only viable alternative. The Chinese Origin. It's important to realize that pretty much all benchtop size mills that cost less that $3.000 are manufactured by one of two Chinese companies: Sieg Industries (maker of X1, X2, X3, etc. models), and; Weiss Machinery (maker of BF16, BF20, etc. models).
